The rich knowledge base of Indian Traditional medicinal records many plants to be useful in the management of diabetes .In the present study, Trigonella foenum-graecum was evaluated for its hypoglycemic property using the alloxan induced diabetic rat model. For the current work fingerprint pattern of Trigonella foenum-graecum whole plant powder was developed using High Performance Liquid Chromatographic (HPLC),
technique as simple & cost effective Quality Control method. Methanolic extract of whole plant powder of Trigonella foenum-graecum is used for carrying out HPLC. Trigonella when combined with a modern antidiabetic drug showed better glucose reduction when compared to administration of the modern antidiabetic drug alone. A combination therapy of Trigonella foenum-graecum with a modern antidiabetic drug is
suggested as a potential alternative.
